Select Match Preview welcomes clear, original pitches that help readers understand football tactics without turning uncertainty into certainty. Send proposals through the Contact page; please do not submit a full article unless we have agreed to see one.

What we welcome

Pitch explainers about formations, player roles, matchups or phases of play; accessible histories of tactical ideas; and reader-focused ways to watch a game with a sharper question in mind. A strong proposal has one distinct subject and a reason it matters beyond a single result.

What makes a good pitch

Tell us the central idea, the reader it serves and how you would explain it in plain English. Flag any claims that need checking and explain what material supports them. We favour original angles, careful distinctions and useful examples over jargon, prediction or sweeping claims.

How to send it

Use the Contact page and choose the editorial question option, then include a short outline and a little about your relevant experience. We cannot promise a reply to every proposal, and sending a pitch does not mean it has been accepted.
